CONTEST RULES:  
>Ten song entries will be selected by a panel of professional musicians for performance at the Del Rio Days Song Contest Show at 2:00 PM, October 28, 2012, at the Jones Nature Center in Del Rio.  The panel will also select the Judges' Choice Award winner.  Songs must be performed  at the Song Contest to qualify for awards.  Writers can designate other musicians to perform their entries. 
>Awards  for  Judges' Choice and Audience Favorites  will be presented after balloting at the conclusion of the performances.  Each audience member  may submit one ballot only for favorite performance. The top three ballot selections will receive a check for: $500 - first place, or $200 - second place, or $100 - third place.  Judges' Choice Award winner will receive  a new  Breedlove guitar, with the high quality craftmanship and acoustic excellence  that Breedlove exemplifies.   
>Songs will be evaluated by the judge's panel for quality and originality of music (melody and composition) and lyrics (if  any; instrumental-only entries are acceptable), and relevance to Del Rio, Tennessee.  Songs must not exceed 5 minutes in length. 
>Each entry must include an entry form, a lyric sheet (words only), and the song on a CD (preferred),  MP3 file or link to an online site such as youtube.  Casette recordings will not be accepted.  All submitted material (recordings, sheets, and forms) will become property of the Del Rio Community Association (DRCA), and cannot be returned.    
All entries, including multiple entries by an individual songwriter,  must also include a non-refundable check or M.O. for $10 per song, payable to DRCA.   Contest organizers are not responsible for lost, late, or damaged entries.
>All entries must be received by October 1, 2012.  Ten finalists, plus 2 alternates, will be announced on or about October 7.  Arrangements will be made to include all finalist's songs on a CD to be sold at Del Rio Days; each finalist will receive a copy.  Contestants agree to the use of their songs for later promotion of Del Rio Days and the Del Rio Song Contest.
>Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors.  Taxes and any division of prizes will be the responsibility of the winners. Entrants and their collaborators will retain full rights to all work submitted.
